There are a few sport climbing crags around the capital. Some of them are on private property and access is only permitted through the mountain club. A small climbing and bouldering crag is situated at Avis dam, a popular recreation spot at the eastern outskirts of Windhoek. Midgard Resort, about 1-2 hours drive from Windhoek is a popular day outing for climbing and enjoying the scenery. Day visitors are welcome for a nominal fee.
